Cancelling your tv licence is a patriotic act at this point.
Lololol. Streaming the press conference of the de-facto opposition and probable next PM is a hate crime? The BBC will be accused of “dehumanising” viewers soon
Don’t agree with Reform but they are the highest polling party in many national polls. The BBC refusing to air press conferences of parties some people don’t agree with, especially when they’re the country’s highest polling party, is a slippery slope and a recipe for disaster. Article is paywalled so can’t see the full opinion.
BBC were doing this before Brexit.
Honestly, BBC really have contributed to the mess we are in.
Did they stream the Labour and Tory conferences too or just Reform?
BBC’s job is to be impartial.
I do love this new democratic approach to politics where covering what a party is saying (especially one that is a) currently looking like they will win the next election and b) proposing very radical changes) is considered anti-democratic and a problem.
It’s as if the political establishment has given up trying to counter the Reform movement and is now focused on controlling the narrative on the grounds that “press coverage is bad for us”.
Do I think reform is getting a lot of coverage? Yeah. Is it because they no doubt have wealthy backers? I mean maybe
But its more likely that its because they are actually proposing radical change.
Kemi has barely said anything of note nor has Davey
Love people saying they’re ’probably going to win the next election’ really? They have to *GAIN* 315 seats to have a majority of 1.
I get that they get wall to wall media coverage thanks to the bbc et al, but if you actually look at how our electoral system works polling numbers alone mean nothing.
Corbyn got 40% of the vote in 2017 and got…262 seats. And that was with a party who actually have history and organisation across the country to transfer polling support into electoral wins.
They are not going to win the next election and Farage will not be the next pm. Next opposition? *maybe* if he’s extremely, extremely lucky.
Is anyone streaming the Lib Dem’s conference that’s happening right now?
They have done for far too long.
He is a work shy racist who looks to sow division and avoid taxes. He is on the side of domestic abusers and sex pests. He is against the interests of the United Kingdom.
The ironic thing is one of Reforms pledges is to get rid of the tv license aka BBC. Maybe they’re doing this to appease Farage because they know of the consequences not to.
Since the BBC is supposed to be legally required to be impartial, at what point do we have a case for a private class action prosecution?
BBC will be getting paid a lot of money in brib….donations to do it and there’s plenty of Tories in charge of news and current affairs that will let them.
r/unitedkingdom unduly platforming Farage by taking about him all the fecking time.
Did we learn nothing from those clowns across the pond? The only reason they got their lunatic the first time around is because they gave him a 24 hour news cycle. We’re doing exactly the same thing they did.
They stopped Evan Davis doing a podcast about heart pumps because they were worried about ‘political bias’ but this is ok…
I’d like to know why Starmer is keeping a Tory as head of the BBC.
This country has such a fanstic comdey cuircit. As always, it’s often contrarian. As it should be.
The idea that the BBC is somehow promoting Reform is utterly fanciful. Considering Reform came third in the popular vote last election, if the BBC didn’t stream the conference there’d be an outcry from the opposite direction. As with so many things these days, the BBC is damned if they do and damned if they don’t. But whatever – bleat away about how horribly right wing/left wing/whatever wing suits your narrative the BBC are. Believe one of the insane fantasies about it harbouring an elite pedophile ring (or whatever that imbecilic claptrap is). Keep going, and one day soon we’ll lose the BBC and we’ll get some kind of American style nightmare telly controlled by foreign billionaires. Go on, Britain – score yet another in a depressingly long list of own goals.
At what stage is everyone actually going to ignore MSMs instead of being upset about them all being corrupt?
