September the 24th, 2025 – The Croatian Tourist Board (HTZ) and Expedia have teamed up to promote small destinations through the Destination Giveback initiative.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the Croatian Tourist Board (HTZ) has joined forces with the well known Expedia Group as part of their Destination Giveback initiative. It was launched last year and is aimed at supporting local communities and entities in destinations with which the popular travel platform cooperates.
The result of this collaboration is a joint promotional campaign that aims to present lesser-known Croatian destinations and rich cultural heritage, from Dubrovnik and the surrounding islands all the way up to Istria, while discovering hidden coves, historic towns and vibrant local traditions, the Croatian Tourist Board announced.
The campaign also raises awareness about the preservation of delicate marine ecosystems, namely the preservation of sensitive underwater habitats of the Adriatic Sea.

“We’re extremely pleased to have launched this campaign through our cooperation with the Expedia Group, which further promotes lesser-known Croatian destinations and this country’s rich cultural heritage. The Croatian Tourist Board is systematically working on the sustainable development of tourism and on raising awareness of the need to preserve natural resources. Through the Destination Giveback initiative, we’re further emphasising our commitment to protecting marine ecosystems while offering guests unique and authentic experiences. We believe that such partnerships contribute to better international recognition of Croatia as a destination of high value and sustainable tourism,” said Martina Srnec, Director of the Marketing and Communications Department of the Croatian National Tourist Board.
The Destination Giveback initiative also includes donations for local projects, thus providing support to local communities and encouraging the growth of tourism. This is best confirmed by the one-time donation of 10,000 euros from Expedia Group to Sunce, the Association for Nature, Environment and Sustainable Development, based in Split.

This donation also supports education and public awareness about the importance of protecting marine ecosystems to ensure that Croatia’s natural beauty remains preserved for future generations.
“The partnership between the Croatian Tourist Board and the Expedia Group reflects our shared commitment to showcasing the world’s hidden gems while protecting the natural resources that make them special. By highlighting Croatia’s rich cultural heritage and supporting marine conservation through our Destination Giveback initiative, we’re helping to ensure that future generations can experience the magic of the Adriatic, just as we do today,” said Jennifer Andre, Vice President of Business Development at the Expedia Group.
