Duchess Sophie fulfils crucial task as Palace deals with fresh crisis

The Duchess of Edinburgh, who is considered to be the ‘secret weapon’ for King Charles’s reign, undertook an important task to deliver a key message as the royal family faces a new crisis.

Prince Edward and his wife had dutifully completed a successful royal tour in Japan to represent the monarch with an itinerary of meaningful royal engagements. During the trip, the Duchess won hearts of her home country and Japan.

The royal family is very particular about optics and the 60-year-old employed that same tact for the crucial visit, according to a style expert.

She made a conscious choice to present a positive image of the royals with the help of her sartorial decisions – something the Palace would appreciate as it deals with the slew of scandals caused by Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.

Buckingham Palace also issued an update in honour of the royal couple, after their tour ended.

Prince Edward’s wife had attended a Women, Peace and Security Dinner and a meeting with Japanese stakeholders on 20 September, where she led by a power move while being cordial.

“The Duchess of Edinburgh’s look here strikes a balance between elegance and diplomacy, perfectly suited for an international engagement,” stylist Angela Kyte told Hello!.

“She wears a soft blush-pink tailored suit that projects both authority and approachability, paired with a printed blouse that adds a touch of texture and visual interest without overpowering the outfit.”

The expert explained that the clean lines of the blazer and wide-leg trousers gave her a “refined silhouette”, while the neutral colour palette was about “sophistication and sensitivity to cultural settings”.

The suit was one of the rare occurrences as Sophie often opts for floral numbers and long dresses. She showed the public that while she does slip under the radar, when the time comes, she will deliver on her tasks.
