1. My uncle, who was a high ranking officer, said they kill complete families. He said this with this sickening smirk on his face.

2. Egypt probably has a few Sednaya-like prisons. From the videos I’ve seen of Egypt, it seems Egyptians are afraid to talk about Sisi like Syrians were afraid to talk of Assad before 2011.

3. Most the time dictatorships can justify these scales of atrocities because they can still guarantee a modicum of prosperity for the nation (ex Putin). Sisi has the distinction of not only being one of the most brutal dictators on earth but also one of the genuinely most incompetent. The Egyptian economy has gone in the gutter during his rule and foreign debt has exploded with nothing but vanity projects to show for it
