This poster has been in my grandmas house for at least 25 years. We have no Finnish ancestry so I’m not sure why it’s here. Could anybody shed some light?

  1. Not advertising, but warning of over drinking on beach.

  2. Basically its a Kummeli joke “paras A-ryhmä” made into info/warning poster to swim in the Shore direction/by the Shore and not away from it

  3. It’s public service announcement to tell the public to swim along the shore line (instead of directly away from beach). The men in the poster are from the most popular tv comedy-sketch series of the 90s.

  4. It’s a safety info poster. Basically it says don’t play in water, swim parallel to the shore.

  5. This is an anti-drowning campaign. At 90’s drowning was a big problem that was battled agains with many campaigns. This is comedy group Kummeli and they made a funny PSA song about safety near waters

  6. Poster promotes safety while swimming with a pinch of Finnish humor. The text says “Don’t waste water, swim along the shore.”

  7. Älä lutraa means “don’t play with water” and Ui rannan suuntaisesti means “swim parallel to the beach/shoreline” for swimming safety I guess. The people in the picture are the famous guys behind Kummeli, Heikki Silvennoinen and Timo Kahilainen.
