Is this a red light camera

  1. If you were in or on a vehicle and used your phone to capture this… GOTCHA!

  2. Not sure if it’s used in this case for this purpose. But I’ve seen these used in certain areas to check traffic on lights. Which can change the behavior or durations of red/green lights to avoid long queues in certain turns or lanes.
You usually can tell it’s used for that when they also have a small red led on them which turns on or off indicating when the camera goes on or of as it periodically checks how many cars are there.

  3. Post 10000 this year of people driving through red and then stress checking to see if they will get a fine or not.

Answer 2000 on this “no it is not a red light camera it is to control traffic and flip to green faster also don’t be a dweeb in stead of trying to race that orange ligt stop unless it’s unsafe to”

  4. bit difficult to see precisely. A location url could be useful. If it is oriented to the camera point then I doubt it as the stop line are usually close to the pole. You need to scan the license plate. IIRC it works by two separate detection loops, carved in the road/placed under it. Not to mention that such camera’s usually support speed detection as well. I would say these kind of camera are oriented away from the camera point.

Could it not be for something more simpler, like traffic monitoring?

  5. No, it is actually a camera that checks the length of the queue and adapts the traffic lights accordingly. With a big queue on one side and a short one on the other, the light wil become green quicker for the longer queue.

  6. I think it is to detect if someone on a bicycle is waiting at the red light. I would expect a bicycle area before the cars. Normally a red light can be seen when it detects something.

  7. It’s not a red light camera, those spherical cameras are always used to just detect traffic on the lanes and give green if there are any. In this case it’s used for the lane to turn left.

  8. If it’s not pointed at your rear licence plate it’s not used to give you a fine.
