The North Royalton Fire Department knows why…
“The odor is a result of an existing leak due for remediation in early 2026,” NRFD confirmed about the area of 13910 Stoney Creek. “However, work has been expedited to take place over the next three weeks.”
“Columbia also wants to add some reassurance that its crews are aware of the leak in question and will continue to monitor until remediation work can begin,” NRFD shared.
While the leak is considered to be non-hazardous, NRFD warned the odor can still be strong.
Columbia Gas never wants to discourage residents from calling 911, or the company’s emergency line at 800-344-4077 if they think they smell a gas leak, especially indoors or near buildings, NRFD stated.
