The European Parliament considers that the frauds and embezzlements committed by the members of the European Court of Auditors and revealed by (French magazine) Liberation do not have to be sanctioned: by 333 votes against 291, it granted its “budgetary discharge”

   I think that positions with access to public funds will always attract those who want to misuse it. And even the EU has been unable to keep those people out.

4. I find the wording to be confusing. Granting the budgetary discharge means accepting the fraud, right? But the wording about the vote is about discharging the members, which means firing them, right? Which means that in the end, I’m confused as to who voted for what, exactly.

5. lol.. so all the traditional centrist parties that have been abusing the system and defrauding their governments & citizens for decades get to vote if they go free or not..

   ie. the *glory* of democracy..

   Also funny how NVA is divided here, and fraud veteran & master-of-finance-that-cant-calculate-a-propper-budget-to-save-his-life Van Overtveld ofcourse would vote to discharge..

   Russia might be one of the world leaders of blatant lying and corruption, but this shit kind of proves that the EU isn’t that much better (if any), and it’s just a loooooooooot slicker & sanctimonious/hypocritical about it..
