  1. From the article:

Russian MiG-29 [fighter jets](https://www.newsweek.com/topic/fighter-jets) have touched down in [Iran](https://www.newsweek.com/topic/iran), giving the country’s aging air force a short-term boost amid escalating [Middle East](https://www.newsweek.com/topic/middle-east) tensions, an Iranian lawmaker said Tuesday.

Abolfazl Zohrevand, a member of parliament’s National Security Committee, called the MiG-29s a “short-term solution” while [Tehran](https://www.newsweek.com/topic/tehran) awaits the more advanced Sukhoi Su-35 jets, signaling a broader push to strengthen its military capabilities.

“Once these systems are fully in place, our enemies will understand the language of power,” Zohrevand told local media, highlighting Tehran’s determination to project strength as regional and global powers watch closely.

  2. If I was Russia, I’d build Russian “embassies” on Iranian nuclear sites. Israel wouldn’t do shit to those sites.

  3. “Russia donates 2 more confirmed kills for Israeli pilots”

  4. Shitbox donation, haha they will bring them on a tow truck.

  5. They’ll be begging to buy them back in a few weeks lol

Fucking joke of a country, Russia.

  6. Why get more planes when you don’t take off as soon as the enemy F-35s arrive?

  7. Russia and Iran don’t have a lot of trade partners left so them doing arms deals isn’t too surprising. Russia has been getting a lot of drones from Iran and I think they are getting the better product than Iran getting 40 year old MiGs.

  8. Another sign Russia is leaning harder into alliances outside the West

  9. Translation: *”You’re not getting those Su-35s we ‘promised’ you any time soon. Here’s a consolation prize.”*

  10. Taking these out will be a great training exercise for the IDF.

  11. Make sure you send the instruction manuals and some duct tape

  12. MiG-29 is yesterday’s news. I guess it’s better than nothing, but it’s easily defeated.

  13. Man, Putin has let go of anything approaching pretense or subtlety.

  14. Iron Beam going to hit the ground running

Putin is lashing out at Trump and the main beneficiary is going to be the Israeli military defense complex

  15. ah yes, analog fighters from the 70s. i wouldnt be surprised if these arent just export A Variants with a few extra bits and bobs. certainly this will stand up against Israel’s Lightnings

  16. If only Iranian pilots would defect in those to Ukraine… a human can dream.

  17. MIG-29 is not suitable for Iran. They need SU-35. MIG-29 is suitable for short ranges only.

  18. Lol this is the equivalent of fighting a CIV thats 2 tech eras behind

  19. I haven’t found the information in the articles or comments, how many planes were transfered ?

  20. I guess if Russian pilots get shot down in Ukraine by $200 hobby drones constantly, then might as well sell your useless junk to Iran.

  21. The airframes have aged out and Russian pilots refuse to fly them. And all that action in Syria with the dust caused extreme engine wear. These planes are scrap but the supreme leader is ancient and thinks it’s a great gift.

  22. From the article: **“Once these systems are fully in place, our enemies will understand the language of power,”** except it will be neutralized like last time. 😛

  23. Were they delivered onto a big X that Israel is about to bomb to smithereens?

  24. It shows Russia does not have enough pilots so it’s better to swap migs for drones

  25. Ukraine will ensure its just a trial run, Russia will be needing them back this time next momth
