A Spanish military plane carrying Defense Minister M. Robles faced GPS jamming near Kaliningrad en route to Lithuania. Flight safety wasn’t affected: it switched to secure navigation. Media report rising GPS interference in the Baltics, linked to Russian EW systems.

Give to ukrain stuff like a drone that can do SEAD, launch it(or them) on kilingrad and deny it after.
Play the russian playbook…
Russia is a cancer wherever they may be.
Dear Ukraine, please accept our most advanced weapons specially designed to take out EW systems.
We have supplied you with enough of them to take out every larger russian EW systems twice.
Please use them responsibly.
And congratulations on recruiting our best operators for these systems! We hope that they can be returned into NATO’s ranks within a months time.
Best regards
NATO
Putin and Russia have done it again. They engaged in GPS jamming against an aircraft carrying Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles. The crew intelligently switched to secure navigational systems. This hostile attack on the part of the Russians seems particularly stupid. The Spanish government of Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has refused to agree to U.S. President Donald Trump’s demands that NATO member countries increase their defense spending to 5 percent of gross domestic product. However, it is true that Spain has provided Ukraine with military assistance.
Send a few missiles to take those jammers out? They are harming civilian airplanes, especially the smaller ones that don’t have that backup system.
The “secure navigation” is the network of remaining NDBs and VOR stations actively built for aerial navigation up to the 1980s and in most places they still exist as a primary method of aerial navigation with satellite navigation only being a convenient extra. The old systems are not particularly secure. They are allowed to function uninterrupted as per some international ICAO treaties and any source of disruption can easilly be roughly located but the signals can easilly be messed with and if the interference comes from outside your jurisdiction (from Russia for example) and the local authorities allow them to keep messing up your navigation then there is nothing you can do. And of course if the need arises (if the ukrainian drones will start to use them for example) then the necessary false signals will have to begin being transmitted in order to disrupt the use of the european ground stations for navigation.
Also in IFR conditions it will not be just dangerous but since our commercial jets no longer have automatic sextants for astro-navigaton it will likely require the affected countries to close the affected airspace completely every time the weather becomes not good enough for VFR approaches. It can easilly escalate into quite a serious problem.
