  1. It’s literally their job to try and get policies through.
Anything proposed on immigration is regarded as ‘controversial’. But change is needed.

  2. I’m actually thankful for the House of Lords in times like this.

It’s why I support reforming it, not scrapping it completely. A chamber of experts and professionals can be a good check on politicians running the country. Although, I’d argue that the law should stipulate that ministers of a certain body should also be experts, at least somewhat. Minister of Education should have *worked in education*, preferably for a long time and in several different income environments. Minister of Healthcare should have *worked in the NHS*, *have medical experience*, *gone to medical school*. Chancellor of Exchequer should have *worked in finance*.

All the ministers should know what they’re in charge of, at least, that’s what I believe. Not like now, where Gavin Williamson was Minister of Defense and then Education. What the fuck experiences qualifies him for both those?

  3. I heard something on bbc news connected to this which was interesting. Apparently the religious lords (Archbishops, bishops etc) were instrumental in the defeat and the only other country in the world other than the UK which allows religious leaders to have a role in Parliament is Iran lol.
