One person is seriously injured, and a busy road in Auckland’s CBD is closed following a crash this morning.

Emergency services were called to Victoria Street near the intersection of Albert Street at around 5.40am.

“At this stage, one person is in a serious condition,” police said.

St John said three patients were assessed at the scene, with one in a serious condition and two in a moderate condition being transported to Auckland City Hospital.

A fourth declined an assessment by the crews.

A witness at the scene told 1News she saw a vehicle crash into a pole. Photos from the scene also showed a police car was seriously damaged.

Police, Fire and Emergency New Zealand, and St John were all at the scene.

Victoria Street was closed between Queen and Hobson Streets, just as many commuters were set to begin their drive into the city.

“Police are advising motorists to use alternate routes as road closures may be in place for some time.”

The serious crash unit was in attendance, and an investigation would be carried out to determine the cause of the crash.
