Yakima, Wash. — Matterhorn Meats closed its doors on July 31 after founder, Fred Bucheli, passed away earlier this year.
Bucheli’s daughter, Siege Daniel, considered selling the business after her father’s passing, but a substantial offer never materialized.
President and CEO of the Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce, Kristi Foster, says that the store was a staple in the area.
“They were here from the 60s, and they were really a specialty meat market, which provided a really special area of a niche for our area and for some of our ranchers and farmers,” Foster said. “So, it’s really sad to see that.”
Daniel says that she hopes someone can come along and carry on the business that her father left behind.
