I’m doing research for a film project about the history of Lithuania’s independence and found this book on eBay. I should have read the details because as it turns out, it’s just someone copy/pasting articles from Wikipedia and self-publishing. Very disappointed because I want some good books on the subject. I did find another book, The Reconstruction of Nations by Timothy Snyder, which is more legit. Would love some recommendations for English language material about Lithuania’s independence from Soviet rule.

  1. I don’t have an answer for you but in case you keep getting downvoted (probable), you can always try r/lietuva.

  2. *Reconstruction of Nations* by Timothy Snyder is great, *Bloodlands* by Timothy Snyder is also another must read. *Gulag* and *Iron Curtain* by Anne Applebaum are not strictly about Lithuania but also another must read, her focus is Poland but all the systems of repression she describes are applicable to Lithuania.

If you want medieval sources, *The Northern Crusades* by Eric Christiansen is quite good.

If you want historical fiction, check out *Between shades of Gray* by Ruta Sepetys.

  3. Where would I be able to see this film when the project is completed? (if completed)
