  1. never watched eurovision, although I know it’s some sort of music contest.

never heard “We are Domi” Sounds good. Thanks for the tip

  2. WTF are we sending again?!

Well, from what I remember the weirder performance the better rankings in eurovision, but still, wtf is this?

  3. Well, idk. Most of Czech stuff on Eurovision is boring and forgettable. This sounds like just another dance track popular on the radio. Eurovision is specific. Maybe a cool stage presence could help.

  4. Not a fan, no big deal here. I know nobody who cares or watches the competition. As far as I know not a single tv station runs it live. You can just read an article once in a while about it.

  5. The people who choose the songs must be like 80 on average, it’s a competition to make the most unoriginal mediocre piece they can, it’s wild to me, I don’t think I’ve actually liked one song they submitted, it’s always the most poppy trash with no soul which resembles anything unique or even what Czech artists make, the best word for most if not all songs is just mediocre, I even think that’s what they shoot for, I feel like they don’t want any risk.

when I see other countries incorporate unique traditional styles into the modern I envy them especially when I think of how our “high” (idk what the words are) music in the 18th-19th century evolved, it took so much inspiration from what the folk music was like, but today it’s just elitism and old folk gatekeeping institutions, that’s what I feel like, its getting better but that’s the impression I get

I don’t really care about the competition but I always listen to like 3 of the songs, it’s just a shame they never submit anything not mediocre

  6. I didn’t know who we were sending until you told us. I listened to it, it sounds like a generic forgetable pop song. No idea if it has any chance at Eurovision, since I don’t watch the show and don’t know what kind of songs usually win. To be honest, I don’t understand the obsession with the show in other European countries, from the little that I have seen it looks as if you took some very trashy, cringy contest show and gave it a budget of 500 million EUR or something. Like it’s shiny, pompous, but underneath a total shit.

  7. I never knew it was a thing.

Then I watched a movie Eurovision and was like “hey that is an interesting concept”. Then I found out it is a thing for a long time.

  8. Big fan of Eurovision, which is not common in Czechia. I think this was one of the weakest songs from the Czechia selection this year. I seriously doubt we make it through semis. We had some pretty cool contestants (We are Domi we 4th in the Czech fan selection, first in International, so mayyyybe thats a good sign?)

We had Elis Mraz, Annabelle, and my personal fav GUIDI with Jezynky in the running, which probably were more “Eurovision”

  9. I absolutely love ESC! Started watching when Gabriela Guncikova competed (2016). Never really heard of Eurovision before since it is not exactly popular in CZ but became annoyingly excited after 2016.
As far as this year goes, I was a bit disappointed when Domi got chosen (I myself would prefer Guidi with Jezinky, although I admit it might have been a wild card) but it grew on me. If Dominika manages those high notes in Semi, I honestly believe they might do fairly well in the finale.

  10. Tried it, absolute cringefest. Looks and controversy of the performance is more important than the actual music. For music if it’s not generic radio pop and with English lyrics you’re already shooting yourself to a leg. No more, hard pass

  11. Je suis plutôt s’intéresser de l’Eurovision (Je pense que depuis 2016), mais j’ai pas encore écouté des chansons (apart du ça et Italie), parce que je du bac cette année. Mais je voudrais regarder, si j’aurais du temps

  12. I am Slovak, you didn’t ask me. People in my country simply don’t care about eurovision.

I watched the Czech submission in the link you’ve sent. It’s bland and tastless, it feels like stock melody. That is all I can say about it.

Personally, I consider ESC a freak show. It is not about music, It is about who make the weirdest performance. Slovak radiotelevision several years made commented transmission in television, and if you wanted, you could tune into radio FM, which is also part of radiotelevision, they were hilariously mocking it, I laughed my ass off 🙂

I am fan of eurovision trolls, like Telex, Verka Serduchka, Lordi, Buranovskye Babuschki, Rodolfo Chicilicuatre etc..

And this is my favourite, it was in local Estonian eurovision round: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dllo85ZSUk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dllo85ZSUk)

  13. I don’t mind it but I don’t love it either. From our national selection I think this is the best choice for me, cause it has some chances and it’s a great song for me to listen too. And this year we have a lots of ballads so I think that dance song like this could be a great choice. I saw a staging and it’s also not bad. I just hope she will get the high notes and than I think we’re fine

  14. I am a fan. People like to shit on the contest here, repeating the same old clichés about it that are not true anymore or never were true. It’s getting tiring to read these but hey, I got used to it. I am going to Turin and will see Eurovision live in the arena this year. There are people around me slowly warming up to it, last year we had a viewing party with my friends, they will do it this year too but won’t be around as I will go see it live 🙂

  15. Eurovision hasn’t been about music for years now, so why bother watching a politically coloured event in which the winner can be, quite frankly, determined before they even step on the stage.

Regarding the Czech Republic this year, probably the most interesting thing is the band is 66% Norwegian and the frontwoman is the daughter of the legendary Dominik Hašek. And that’s pretty much it.

  16. A huge fan of Eurovision. This year’s national selection wasn’t my favourite, but I was rooting for We Are Domi, so I’m quite happy. I don’t care what people here think about it, we can’t vote for it anyway. However, I watched some YT videos and Eurovision subreddit posts, and a lot of people have it in their top 10, top 3 even. So I guess there is a chance. But I thought so about Ben too.
