On 24 September 2025, Vietnam’s Minister of Public Security, General Luong Tam Quang, met with Norway’s Minister of Justice and Public Security, Astri Aas-Hansen, in Oslo to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in crime prevention and law enforcement.
The two sides highlighted strong relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1971. Norway is Vietnam’s second-largest trading partner in ASEAN, with two-way trade surpassing USD 450 million, and 56 Norwegian investment projects in renewable energy, aquaculture, and shipbuilding.
During the talks, the ministers agreed to expand exchanges between law enforcement agencies, share information on transnational crime, and strengthen training in peacekeeping, search and rescue, and crime prevention. The Vietnamese delegation also visited the Norwegian National Police University to explore cooperation in officer training and student exchanges.
General Luong Tam Quang further held discussions with Lars Erik Alfheim, Deputy Permanent Commissioner of the Norwegian National Police, to deepen collaboration between the police forces of the two countries.
