Hello Hello

Yesterday I tried to open a bank account with [KBC](https://www.kbc.be/retail/en/products/payments/current-accounts/compare-current-accounts.html?zone=) and today I received an email, kindly informing me that since I live in Brussels the basic account is not available.

Indeed it is not available on the [KBC Brussels](https://www.kbc.be/retail/en/products/payments/current-accounts/compare-current-accounts.html?zone=) website.

I’m speechless, I would have never thought that anything like this could happen: I feel this is basically discrimation based on where I live and we are in Belgium, litterally one of the smallest country in Europe???

How is this possible?

Also any suggestions on Banks, I’m trying to find one that doesn’t cost anything (just like the basic KBC account)?

  3. I needed coins for the washing machine in our apartment. Tried to order it in the KBC Brussels branch near where we live. They wouldn’t do it even though i’ve been with KBC for more than thirty years. Solution: I kindly ask the people at the till in Colruyt to give me change when I do my weekly shop. Fuck you KBC Brussels!

  5. I tricked them. I moved to Flanders. Now I belong to 2 branches at the same time and have 2 apps that look and work completely the same. I see all my products in both.

  6. Banks that have at least one type of account that can be used by persons of any age for free (depending on your usage pattern):

    * Argenta

    * AXA Bank

    * Banx

    * Belfius

    * Beobank

    * bpost bank (if you have a certain amount of incoming transfers each month)

    * Crelan

    * Europabank

    * Hello bank!

    * Keytrade Bank

    Common restrictions on the “free” aspect:

    * No free withdrawals from other banks’ ATMs.

    * No free in-branch service (or no in-branch service at all)

    * Need to use your card at least a certain number of times per month.

    * No free instant transfers (or no instant transfers at all)

    * No free VISA/MasterCard included

    Personally I recommend Hello bank: has Apple Pay, free ATM withdrawals everywhere (at least in Belgium), VISA debit included, no minimum usage requirements.
