Strengthening ties, sharing expertise, and improving interoperability. This kind of partnership is rare for Switzerland, given its traditionally neutral stance. Overall seems like a weird initiative to me.

Why the National Guard? The same branch being deployed to police its own fellow citizens. The optics are weird on this one.

Certainly not some backdoor channel to feed Russian intelligence… Optimistically, maybe this is just a clever way to get those troops out of the country, so they can’t be used domestically by the Golden Calf. The worst part is that it’ll validate those young SVP voters who then leave the country, cause it subsidizes too many social programs, but keep voting SVP from abroad.
But the article says it’s the national guard of the state of Colorado. I don’t know if the US has a single national guard, but I do know that Colorado has a lot of mountains / famous skiing areas, so maybe it is just an interesting initiative to share knowledge and nothing is really wrong with this.

Switzerland can’t miss a chance to look stupid when it’s about America.
The country will play hardball with the EU as if they’re mortal enemies, then lick America’s anus and ask for seconds.
I have both military experience and geopolitics as interest.
This makes a joke of neutrality and carries the big risk of getting switzerland entangled in the mess that the US will continue to get into in the next months and years.
It is cowardly and servile to collaborate with these troops who couldn’t spell democracy if their lives were at stake. Worse yet, our troops could return to suppressing living democracy like they did in 1918.
ICE was too busy to pick this partnership, so we had to settle with the National Guard.
