Hello r/london, former Crystal Palace/Sydenham resident here. I've got a project titled The Crystal Palace currently gathering support over on the LEGO Ideas website. It recreates the famous building from the Great Exhibition of 1851, along with the Crystal Palace Park dinosaurs and a few celebrity cameos like Charles Dickens, Charlotte Brontë, and the Duke of Wellington.   2. Remember my late mother telling me about seeing the glow in the night sky from the Crystal Palace fire when it burnt down in 1936 – she was living in Hastings at the time. May your Lego model not meet the same fate!

  3. Penge in da house! Well, grew up there. Lived opposite the main gates to the park, and then Essex Tower off Maple Road.

  5. Looks fantastic and the ‘dinos’ brought back a lot of memories, especially the guy with the weird eye lol.

    Two suggestions if possible – can the land dino flip open so you can seat people at a dining table as per the famous image in the park? And…any chance of a CPFC easter egg hidden in there somewhere?

  7. This sounds great. The park is getting some much needed renovation at present. I’m hoping that it will emerge in much better condition.
