   You don’t allow an enemy to advance so that you can attempt flanking maneuver assaults that will incur high casualties on your own forces to “cut the enemy off” — where your own flanking force ends up in the same situation as the pocket and is easily cut off/destroyed. That is damage control at best – and while yes, logistics for the russians will be high casualty and nightmarish, and if they do cut off the cauldron the Russians will incur high casualties within it until destroyed, ideally those casualties would be inflicted without loss of ground and needing to send your own high casualty assault groups.

   Shit like this article is insulting to the Ukrainian soldiers fighting and dying for every inch of their land by saying “it’s all part of the plan”. Ukraine needs more support, and this shit cope of “see they’re actually doing okay without the extra support based on my ‘trust me bro’ analysis of things that havent happened yet” isn’t helping them.
