Remember this when they say they don’t have the resources or budget to deal with criminals.
A Pulitzer Prize worthy display of hard-hitting journalism. God fearing pearl clutchers in Ireland can sleep at night knowing that another case of possession of small quantities of cannabis for personal use has been dealt with swiftly by our brave men in uniform
As additional punishment for such egregious offense, your man gets his name and address plastered on the paper. Think of the many benefits for his children.
Cheaper, bit of a hobby cultivating it, control over the purity/safety, not supporting criminal gangs. Seems great except for the getting arrested bit.
Well I hope they throw the fucking book at this menace to society.
It’s crazy we’re still prosecuting folk for weed.
And people wonder why there’s so much unnecessary animosity between so many otherwise law abiding citizens and our police. Another triumph in utterly poisoning community relations for no good fucking reason.
Much like the pathetic Irish medicinal cannabis program, decriminalization of cannabis in the country amounts to little more than cheap window-dressing. A publicity stunt.
Sound, when can we get to catching or doing something about actual criminals and anti social behaviour?
Why anyone smokes cannabis in Ireland is beyond me, unless you don’t drive of course. Ireland has a zero tolerance approach meaning you can be convicted for just having cannabis in your system while driving. No evidence of impairment is needed. While I can see the logic of the law, there are lots of people who are getting convictions and bans for a joint they had days ago and even weeks in some cases.
Ireland is the nanny state capital of Europe and it’s very hard to see the laws changing. We should be ashamed of our approach to drugs in this country. What a waste of time, money and resources to bring this man to court over €20 possession charge. Who benefits from this?
It also doesn’t help that Frank Feighan is the drug minister, a dinosaur of a man.
“he was smoking two to three joints of weed per day.” Somebody think of the children!..
Hard hitting journalism..
I’m surprised they didnt try pad out the article with stupid stuff like “They found marijuana syringes littered around the house”
Such a joke..
It’s laughable until you’re the one standing in front of the judge. Complete waste of time and money. With a Fine Gael minister for justice and a FG minister for drugs what can you expect?
Weeks of court proceedings involving multiple people and resources, all because this poor fucker got the finger pointed at him for keeping to himself and enjoying a smoke. Sickening.
you’d have to wonder how he got caught
What kind of a headline is that?
I hope that Garda doing that search feels like a hero now, ya stopped a fella from growing a few plants, not hurting anyone but himself, not funding the criminal gangs, just having a few joints to save some cash. Please go have a pint on me ya absolute legend, tell everyone in the pub what you contributed to society today.
The article states the plants had not yet reached maturity but they somehow have ascribed a value to it. How can this be taken seriously at any level?
And once again we are fed a story about cannabis – the main take away being the only thing dangerous about cannabis is being caught with it. Another heap of tax payer money, Court and Garda time wasted
Not funding armed criminal gangs is unacceptable to the absolute scrotes that have authority in this corrupt little island.
“he knows he can’t use cannabis and certainly can’t cultivate it”
no, maybe you shouldnt , but you definitely can, its dead easy.
i mean its like fags, u can buy em, just cant smoke them anywhere. you can buy all the equipment including seeds online, millions in revenue in this industry, just dont grow it?
wardrobe grow is a good cheap place to start. use t5’s or white light on auto seeds to begin.
Look weed does me no good what so ever but have we not got more important crimes to solve or stop like elderly people living in rural areas been attacked and robbed.
You now ones with victims
800 fucking quid for a half grown plant? Yez can fuck off with that bullshit. It’s worth nothing. Proof the gardai have no idea what the cost of things are.
The racist police can’t catch the fella who ran over Thiago Cortes in an uninsured car on one of the most essily recognizable areas to American tourists (Quays) but can arrest some loner who smokes weed alone.
Only a matter of time before some lone weed smoker who gets a criminal conviction for a plant and can’t go to America/Canada/OZ and does an Elliot Rodgers/Anders Breivik in dublin and it’ll all be Michael Martin and Leo Martins fault
Edit: Just like to point out this guys name and address was plastered in a national paper which any lunatic can read but we had to wait days for Youssef Pallanis name and we never heard the identities of the murderers of The mongolian woman and Thiago Cortes.
Ireland 🤡
So they actually battered down his door for €20 of weed. It’s frightening that they can do that.
What a waste of time.
What a waste of everyone’s time, can we just legalise it?
Gardai are petty hypocritical cunts for pursuing this. If the Gardai turned a blind eye to cannabis possesion and cultivation when it’s otherwise ok, law abiding people that are caught with it then Ireland would be a better country. They have such a key role to play in the enforcement of our country’s bullshit cannabis prohibition and they could effectively make it unofficially decriminalised tomorrow if they wanted to but instead these fat morons keep on arresting decent people for brownie points with their Superintendents. It’s the Gardai that are responsible for our cannabis prohibition, not the politicians.
Irish news with alcoholics: they were hard working people before they killed the entire family in a triple murder suicide
Irish news when someone smokes weed: This horrible disgrace of a human….less than human! Sub human! Shulda stayed with the drink, Watch the Heineken cup this weekend!
