The problem is that you need a super majority of the Senate to convict and remove, and only 1/3 of the Senate seats are up for election, so gaining that much is almost impossible if the Rs vote as a bloc. The only way that it could happen is enough R senators see the blood in the water and figure the only way to avoid losing the next time they ARE up, is to vote to convict. We’ll have to wait for the 2026 results to see what the number is that would have to switch sides, and if there are any D senators, like Fetterman, who might not vote with the rest of the party.

    I remember standing in line to vote in 2016 and thinking how relieved I was going to be in a day or so because I wouldn’t have to see this guy ever again. Fuck me, right?!

It’s not going to end with him and honestly I can’t see democrats pulling in the votes with all the gerrymandering going on across the U.S. and they don’t have a central figure like the Republicans do to vote for. That’s just for 2028. Mid terms I don’t see a strong show up for Democrats either. There are some strong candidates out there but like I said before gerrymandering is just going to oust them from even have a running chance.

    The shit show really starts when he uses the military in US cities to cause unrest and use that as the mechanism to take control of the elections in some way, either an emergency declaration to cancel them or intimidation tactics to scare people from the polls.

    This all sounds ridiculous, but at what other time in our history has a president said that he flat out hates most of the country and doesn’t want to do anything to make the lives better for the people not kissing his ass?

  25. Has anyone put forth the idea of allowing a Recall Vote that would be settled by popular vote. Probably not a simple majority, but if 55-60% or more voted to get rid of the president then either the Vice President would take over or there would be a special election. It might be initiated either by a vote of the house (which has a more representative composition if you don’t worry about gerrymandering) or a petition drive with a certain percentage (33%?) of the registered voters requesting a Recall. Any thoughts?
