SUMRALL, Miss. (WDAM) – An 8-year-old Sumrall girl and President Donald Trump have exchanged personal letters of thanks and support.
It’s all because the girl, Annaleigh Kahler, painted and sent a portrait of President Trump to the White House.
Included with the portrait was a letter, thanking the president for his efforts.
In the letter, Annaleigh also said she hoped her portrait brought the president joy.
“I painted him the picture and the, we had put it on the desk to write a letter, but we were so busy, it kind of took a while, and, so, later on, I wrote the letter,” Kahler said.
A few days ago, Kahler got a letter back from President Trump.
In it, he thanked her for her portrait.
He also encouraged her to do well in school and dream big.
“Seeing the president of the United States pick her letter out of I don’t know how many and write her back, it was very encouraging to me as her mother and very exciting,” said Laura Kahler, Annaleigh’s mother.
Annaleigh Kahler sent the portrait and her letter to the president last March.
