1. He’s saying Holland so I don’t want to be mean to the other provinces but I don’t think he means the rest of you.

3. Is it me or did English change much less than Dutch over the past decades?

   It’s probably pretty easy to find out by the words used that someone is speaking Dutch in 1920 or 1930, but I wouldn’t particularly consider what is mentioned in this video an old fashion type of English.

4. Een van de meest indrukwekkende staatsmannen uit een periode zonder tekort aan grote namen. Leuk om hem zo te horen praten, je ziet die charme waar hij om bekend stond ook goed doorschemeren hier haha.

I’m sorry but I just can’t take this seriously in 1929 the Netherlands was not an example of freedom (Considering the decolonization wave had not started) besides in the Mainland… Not to burst the bubble you guys live in but at this time the dominant ideology was the ‘Ethische politiek’ the complete opposite of freedom.

9. Interessant. Wist niet dat we toen al die reputatie hadden, en een internationale rechtbank. Ik zou eerlijk gezegd verwacht hebben dat onze neutraliteit in de eerste wereldoorlog onze reputatie geen goed gedaan zou hebben.
