South Korean soccer is trying to advance to the semifinals for the third consecutive time at the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
South Korea will face Ukraine, Paraguay and Panama in turn in Group B at the U-20 World Cup in Chile from the 28th (Korea Standard Time) to the 20th of next month. The tournament, which features 24 countries, will see the top four teams from each group’s second and third-place teams advance to the round of 16 tournaments to determine the winning team. Attention is focusing on what new prospects will be born this time in the competition, which produced various stars such as Lionel Messi (Argentina) in 2005, Paul Pogba (France) in 2013, and Lee Kang-in in 2019.
South Korea, which is led by head coach Lee Chang-won, who has mainly led the youth team, is also aiming for a semifinal or higher performance in this tournament.
South Korea will play the first game against Ukraine at 5 a.m. on the 28th, the second game against Paraguay at 8 a.m. on the 1st of next month, and the third game against Panama at 5 a.m. on the 4th of next month. Director Lee said, “I’ve prepared well, so I’ll play without fear. If we pass the group stage, we will be able to go to a higher level,” he said.
