BBC News – DJ Tim Westwood accused of sexual misconduct

  1. Always thought he was a bit of a weirdo. Thinks he talks like a gangster when it’s just always so cringey. If these allegations are true, then I hope the women get all the support they need.

  2. I’ll never forget my first nightout in Leicester University – 2013, Tim Westwood was playing the opening night and he started the night by saying “All the girls with wet pussies put your hands in the air”. IDK, everyone was of age of course but man, it was so fucking weird.. who speaks like that?? I’ll never forget it until the day I die. Never experienced a concert/gig/event where someone opens the show like that

  3. I mean he always gave off the vibe of someone that would hang around outside schools despite being in their mid-40’s

  4. He always gave creepy vibes. The whole old guy trying to be down with the kids.

Whilst I can appreciate why victims haven’t gone to the police, to me, allegation can only really be credible if they report it to the police.

  5. I just finished watching the Savile doc on Netflix and the Brits fascination and celebration of eccentricity means that we have (or at least had) a lot of fucking creeps in positions of influence and power. Westwood is another in a long line.

Like, why was this weirdo ever relevant? Regardless of whether or not he’s a sexual predator, he’s also just toe-curling cringe.

  6. Anyone remember his ‘Wrap It Up Before You Slap It Up’ campaign around UK university campuses promoting contraception?

  7. To be honest I thought he’d already had a sexual misconduct scandal and that’s why he disappeared off the face of the planet.

  8. My friend is a producer for a decently sized radio show. She once reached out to Westwood in the hopes of him doing an interview. He replied saying that he thought the station was “beneath him.”

I mean… come on lad, nobody knows who you are any more. Humble yourself. Touch some grass.

  9. he is like the 35year old bloke who drives a supped up astra and picks up his 14 year old girlfriend from school. Doesnt surprise me, weird guy

  10. I worked with him in the late seventies while we were doormen at the Lyceum. He was a douchebag then, so nothing’s changed.

  11. Bloke was always a stain on the pants of society
From the gunfire sound effects on radio 1 to him claiming he got shot as if he was some sort of gangster 🤣
“bow down and kiss the ring” fuck sake

  12. I used to work in a club and he played it one night, his whole “gangsta” persona is completely put on, he is actually a very soft spoken English guy who politely asked for directions to the staff toilets.

    I am 0% surprised that he’s a creep though.

  13. The few times I saw him on tv I was convinced he was some second rate comedian doing an ‘Ali G’ type character

When I found it he was for real I felt embarrassed on his behalf and thought shame on the BBC for putting someone so obviously touched in the public eye

TIL that he also doubles up as Satan’s spare dick – that doesn’t surprise me but the fact he was gainfully employed does

  14. How have I, with no connections to the music industry, being hearing about these rumours for years? I thought he had already been done for it.

  15. After Saville I think people should be suspicious of famous people who have an intentionally bizzare persona. If everyone thinks you’re weird I think it can put a lot of people off the scent if you’re actually very dodgy as well.

  16. This wanker’s always seemed “off”, Ali G is a more convincing ‘gangster’ than than he is.

Also, is it possible to work for the BBC and not be a horrible serial rapist?

  17. I worked on Pimp my Ride one series and knew other people who did also. While I personally cannot attest to any direct experience (I met the man once), I am close friends with a guy who worked on more than one series and who is very much “not surprised” by these revelations.

  18. Old man Radio One DJ with a creepy aura, a love of tracksuits and a truly ludicrous way of speaking has been shown to abuse the access his job gives him to younger women?

Hows about that then, boys and girls? Who could have guessed? Looks like someone’s going to have a warehouse full of “Tim’ll Fix It” merch to get shot of.

  19. The guy is a grade A freak. Hated when he was on Radio 1. Complete poser.

Only got the job because the BBC is racist as hell, and couldn’t bear to put a black man on its flagship station

(btw it still can’t and that’s why it invented 1xtra)

  20. The perpetually 28 year old son of the Bishop of Peterborough who grew up in a Palace and went to the finest Public schools somehow became the gatekeeper of UK Hip Hop and abused his position. I had an argument with someone about Westwood years ago when they took issue of me making fun of him because in their view his “service to Hip Hop” made any question about his honesty and privileged upbringing irrelevant.

  21. He played at Queens University Union (Belfast) and was bottled off stage. If i remember right one lad sconned him with a budweiser bottle and he kicked off over the mic so everyone followed suit

  22. > He eventually left the BBC in 2013 as part of scheduled changes. In a Freedom of Information (FOI) request, BBC News asked the BBC whether it had received any complaints against Westwood during his time in its employment. The corporation said it could “neither confirm nor deny whether the BBC holds the requested information”.

Ok, so the BBC asked itself for information and it said no, to itself ?

    Righto.

  23. He was the ‘special guest’ at my 6th form formal after party and he did ask the oldest looking girl (still obviously a teenager) to go back to his hotel room.

One of my friends started a rumour about her self that she sucked him off under the DJ booth.

The way he hyped the crowd was hilariously bizarre, he said phrases like “all the girls with the real titties, SCREAM!” And “make some noise if you love your mum!”

    It was unforgettable night.

  24. He DJ’d at my uni in 2007/2008 and got his team to ask my (black 19 year old female) friend for her number. He text her obsessively for a couple of weeks, we got a shout out on Radio One because of him but we knew at the time he was SO creepy.

Need to remember that he was 100% facilitated and enabled by his team around him.

  25. I was at uni in Bradford in 2002 and this absolute tool came in to do a gig, put fucking crystale on his rider (no he didn’t get it), was in his 50s but giving 18 year old girls his number, doing finger guns and going brap brap, absolute omelette of a man, his set was pure shite.
