Russia is helping prepare to attack Taiwan, documents suggest

1. Its not like Russia has experience of successful attacking and taking over a country recently.

   Also not even mentioning the geographical complexity of Taiwan.

2. I’ll be honest, word of China and/or Russia being ready to attack Taiwan has been a thing for decades and it’s still not happened. it’s very “boy who cried wolf” or whatever

3. Paywalled, but my guess is it’s just “Russia is helping train the Chinese military”, not anything specific to Taiwan.

   The one bit that’s not paywalled talks about Russia helping training with “lightning-fast operations”, which are one of the things that Russia have proven they are utterly useless at. I wonder if Chinese leaders have fallen for Russian propaganda? They should be asking for artillery training and insights into electronic warfare instead.

   Disrupt the status quo? Please.. They can’t do anything to make our politicians look even more useless than they already are. They can just sit back and relax cuz our politicians got that in the bag.

5. Man imagine if the us investmented in protecting their allies instead of electing isolationists blowhards. The war in Ukrainian, the attack on doha and this potential invasion of in taiwan might actually shatter the idea of an american umbrella.

6. Fuck the headline. Anyone have link to the article that’s not pay walled?. I want to know what documents and how they arrived at this conclusion.

   After the nordstream bombing, targeted interference for a jet causing delay in landing , Polish drones, fighter entering airspace for 12 min, this just seems like another ruse to pull us into war.

7. in the meantime China becomes that advanced that they don’t need anything that Taiwan has. Taiwanese are turning against their government as China is better than the US and demand a union with the mainland.

8. I think someone is profitting from having this “threat” in the air, that’s believable enough and might even become true, if a certain chain of events were to happen. But it’s ultimately unlikely to happen in the current scenario, without too many signs of it changing drastically in the next few decades.

   But the periodic reminder, “Hey look… They are going to invade. Any day now… Just you wait.”
   That’s a play.

9. Interesting, that’s not consistent with China’s current military disposition. If they were preparing to invade Taiwan, we’d most likely have some hints. For example, an increase in the manufacture of amphibious attack craft, except they don’t have nearly enough for an invasion of Taiwan.

   China’s Military development over the past 10 years has focused on all of China’s contested borders, and not just Taiwan.
