From sources at the weekend, apparently close to the Sussexes, suggesting Prince Harry might be able to 'help' lighten the load of royal engagements, to claims by biographer Tina Brown that King Charles is 'less irritated' by his prodigal son than he is by Prince William over his work ethic, there has been a torrent of suggestions about tensions at the top.

Indeed, a source close to both the King and the Prince of Wales told me starkly this week: 'It's evident there's an attempt to manufacture division between them, when in reality, no such rift exists. In truth, their relationship is as strong as ever, they are aligned in their work, with many areas of shared interest, and united in their vision for the role of the Royal Family.'

Another source adds: 'Like many father-son relationships, there are occasional personal and competitive tensions. Both are very driven individuals and have very similar interests such as the environment, conservation, the military and helping deprived communities. However, they are also going about supporting them in quite different ways.

'Does that sometimes bring them into competition with one another? Yes, to be fair, it does. But ultimately they have the same goal: to make life better for the people of this country.

  3. I don’t know how they keep a straight face writing this stuff. I should be a reporter so I can just write fan fiction all day long based on my mood and only require enough integrity to write ‘from sources’ to make my made up BS seem legitimate. I don’t think being in the British media is a serious job anymore.

    Lately, the majority of royal stories are feuds, snubs, Kate’s hair and outfits, William’s rage, and conspiracy theories about Harry and Meghan.

    Every other month we hear that Harry is broke/ wants to move back/ is leaving Meghan, but William refuses to let him stay in the UK.

    Hey, y’all, there have always been stories about Charles and William arguing. Welcome to a parent/child relationship. When my mom had cancer and we spent way too much time together, she once got so mad at me that she threatened to jump out of my moving car if I didn’t pull over so she could get out and call my brother to come pick her up. Lol. Did that mean we hated each other? No.

    My question is why are English and Eden both suddenly talking about a conspiracy to harm the monarchy when, like, these stories have always been out there? It’s weird to have two family mouthpieces say similar things, and I haven’t even seen anything about William and Charles fighting behind the scenes lately. What are those two cooking up for their YouTube show this week? Hahah

  8. I mean it’s always been pretty obvious to me William does not get on with his dad and is not close to him and this has also been reported on extensively as well. They played the happy family when they needed to of course but they always look tense together.

    There is a lot of history there and while things may be forgiven they are not forgotten. I think it’s probably pretty hard to have health relationships in that family.

  9. I completely believe their relationship is as strong as ever and they are getting along as usual. Because their relationship has never been strong and they have never gotten along!

  13. I totally believe that Charles is upset at William’s work ethic. They are opposites in terms of work.

  14. Daily Mail is ALWAYS running the story of a wedge between KCIII and PW, followed by how the rift is healed. It’s like clockwork — they run the story as soon as they run out of other royal stuff to write about. The timing of it makes it really come off like manufactured drama.

    They just don’t make money when people are getting along as normal and just getting on with business.
