Broke a my #1 cycling rule today, never stop on a climb. Welsh flags on the Rhigos climb, Treherbert side.

  1. That first one is a lovely photo. I can imagine that hanging in the reception of a local council.

  2. In case you thought you had strayed into England.

  3. We have the best flag in the world, look at it! Fucking majestic.

  4. God, that first photo is stunning. Our flag looks completely at home against the backdrop of hills and trees- it’s such a shame we don’t see it in that setting more often.

  5. It’s probably been put up by a Nigel Farage supporter. Whilst I love my national flag I don’t appreciate it being used to intimidate others. This needs to stop!

  6. I just don’t see the point of the flag in that setting. It’s spoiling the natural beauty of the WELSH countryside. It’s tacky here- I don’t want to see politics (which this is) in a natural setting.

I’d say it devalues the flag. No proper flag pole, zip-tied half way up. Pure Shit.

People go to places like this to relax, connect with nature and enjoy the natural scenery.

And in a few months it’ll just be Temu (made in China) litter.

  7. Admittedly a nice sight, but knowing it’s been paid for by Russian agents (or people who are thick enough to believe that Comrade Nigel’s on their side), as a precusor to a hostile takeover of the country which will leave everyone but the 1 per cent utterly fucked over, makes me hate something I ought to like.

  8. I love my flag – but hate every attempt by the far right to weaponise it

  9. Controversial I know but aren’t flags, any flags, a bit silly? Especially these days?

  10. I’ve been in Wales for years and honestly there is no immigrant problem here

  11. It’s a shame that such a beautiful symbol on a tough climb has become so divisive. Makes you wish the flag could just represent the pride of the place without all the political baggage.

  12. Politicising the flag is wrong, whether it’s the right, the left or the centre. It saddens me to see it degraded like this.

  13. Wales and its beautiful landscape is for everyone!

    Cymru am byth

  14. It’s there only for the real troopers who climb the hill to be proud of themselves for making it this far.

  15. Didn’t notice them on Thursday morning but I did on Thursday afternoon. If it’s being done for the right reasons then crack on…..

  16. Majestic photo, not really sure why so many people are bringing politics into this tho?

  17. This is something we should be worried about.

I hate how the Saint George’s Cross was appropriated by the BNP and became a symbol of hate.

I don’t want the same thing to happen to the Welsh Flag.

  18. Gotta say, I’m fiercely proud to be Scottish, and love our flag, but you guys definitely have the coolest flag. And when I hear Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau I get goosebumps.

  19. Obviously hung by a short arse or they would probably have sprayed the speed limit sign too while they were there 😄

  20. Half American – Welsh descent here. That flag is what keeps the Welsh Americans remembering their ancestors. I’ve met many Americans who have no idea Wales even exists, they think of Scotland, Ireland and England only.

But this flag… people love it. And no wonder. ❤️❤️❤️

Adding: Of course it shouldn’t be used for racist purposes. In the US the American flag is used as a welcoming gesture. Even now when racism abounds, the flag itself just isn’t used in the same way as it is being used in the UK right now.

  21. Using a flag, any flag, to intimidate people and rally around a message that they don’t belong is wrong. It doesn’t mater what flag is being used to do it.

  22. People gonna shit on me here but that flag seems too close to the road. Wind blows in the opposite direction and it obstructs views on the road
