  1. “with Lords promised the opportunity to socialise in order to coax them to stay for late night voting”

Verging into bribery territory there, surely.

  2. Sometimes, some MPs will assure a Party Whip that they’ll either vote in the Party’s favour or abstain – only to later try and sneak back in or around the Whip to vote against the party.

This is how our government works. It’s so weird.

  3. > One senior Tory called the proposals in the bill “morally indefensible and economically illiterate”

Morally Indefensible and Economically Illiterate are, coincidentally, what Mrs Johnson and Mrs Sunak call their husbands during their daily pinot grigio sesh.

  4. >Tory said there was limited appetite for rebellion on that issue from centrist Tories **and crossbenchers**

Erm what?? Just oppose it anyway ffs it costs nothing.

  5. The party have been morally indefensible and economically illiterate since they came into power. This bill is just the latest example of that. The way the poor and disabled people are treated in this country has been morally indefensible, yet the Tories have been happy to support measures that have targeted them. It’s interesting to see where some Tories have drawn the line.
