Princess Beatrice takes bold decision amid Sarah Ferguson controversy
Princess Beatrice seems to be closing a six year chapter, stepping down as trustee of the Outward Bound Trust.
While talking to Daily Mail, Shelly Phillips, head of marketing and communications at the charity, shared that the 37-year-old Royal Family member’s efforts over the years were “greatly valued.”
Shelly went on to reveal that a “new role” awaits the Princess and would be announced “in due course,” but offered no other information.
The eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson first became the trustee back in 2019, not long after her father the Duke of York, controversial BBC Newsnight interview where he tried to explain his connection to Jeffrey Epstein.
After the immense criticism from the broadcast, the 65-year-old Duke of York distanced himself from multiple organizations, among them was Outward Bound where his patronage lasted for three years and led as chairman of trustees since 1999.
Now, Beatrice’s decision to depart from her position comes during a challenging time for her mother.
The Duchess of York has faced major fallout after more charities cut ties with her following the resurfacing of emails once she sent to Jeffrey Epstein, causing many charities to cut ties with her.
Sarah lost the backing of The Children’s Literacy Charity, The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, and Prevent Breast Cancer, all of which announced they were ending their associations.
By stepping down from the Outward Bound Trust, the Princess may now be able to focus on her mother, dedicating more time supporting her while the family navigates through the fallout.
