  1. Would be a shame if something happened to your nice little submarine.

  2. Didn’t the Russians maintain anything in the cold war? So far, all their stuff just keep sinking itself. The Ukrainian Naval victories are not sounding so amazing if a well thrown dart can sink these boats. I mean their “amazing high tech” aircraft carrier has to be towed around…. Why were we afraid of these guys all this time?

  3. Russia: turning surface vessels into submarines and submarines into surface vessels. Putin remains master strategist.

  4. Or is it a ploy just to pollute the seas off Gibraltar, or mess with any cables. Seems very suspect where it has surfaced.

  5. >Russian Submarine Novorossiysk Leaking Fuel in the Med!

    Does that normally happen?

  6. Who is Lavrov going to threaten for this one? The melted faced fucker will be calling to nuke the fishes.

  7. Thank God it’s not another Russian nuclear-powered sub, otherwise people in that area would have to fear a nuclear catastrophe

  8. Geez, leaking fuel like that. How will we ever track that submarine

  9. Be a shame if someone sent a seababy over there.

  10. Diesel is a pretty tame and safe fuel. It has a high ignition temperature. It is also pretty easy to contain as long as you use nitral gaskets and o-rings. It will eat through ordinary rubber parts.

So this event is pretty interesting. Any leak should be rather easy to contain by transferring fuel into other tanks, and it is very likely the sub was designed with such criss transfer functionality to maintain trim is nothing else but also foe survival should a tank become ruptured.

This sounds to me like a series of snafus.

Or the real issue is different and they are trying to cover up the real problem.

  11. Ukraine would be absolutely scrambling to see if they can get some naval drones ready in time.

  12. I’m pretty sure, that’s the new NSM testing grounds right? Oopsies. Did you not get the memo RU? Shoot, you know, we forgot to put the new header on that TPS report. Sorry, not sorry.

  13. Wow,. Ukraine is *really* going after those Russian fuel tanks

  14. Russia is clearly having a difficult time projecting naval power very far from its shores. Every ship/sub needs its own tug.

  15. Oh you mean they’re trying to sneak through into the Black Sea against Turkey’s prohibition? Interesting.
