Saw this sign at a building site and it struck me again how weird the last two years were

  1. I like not shaking hands tbf. Too many potential fuck ups.

-You extend your hand and they don’t. Rude!

-Big man holds onto your hand long after you’re done shaking coz he’s a prick.

-You go to shake and they are too slow. Then as you retract your hand they reach out. Then you go “oh haha sorry.” And then they do the same thing. Awkward!

Fuck the handshake. It’s a relic of days gone.

  2. This is the least weird thing about the last two years. Did people really shake hands often 🤔

  3. My son is in senior infants. When they went back a few weeks ago after Easter, restrictions were fully lifted. It was the first time that he has experienced proper freedom in the school yard – before school and during breaks. He was telling me this evening that him and his friends are playing football this week and it was half time this afternoon LIVERPOOL 3 – MAN CITY 3.

That’s the way school should be.

  4. I love that shaking hands is back. Nothing better than a patient who’s a true auld lad and gives a firm handshake.

  5. Was in a cubicle in a public toilet fairly recently. Fella in the next one taking a shite, finished his business and walked straight out the door. I prefer the fist bump…

  6. It scares me how it was over 2 years ago.

When Covid hit I was 28. Soon I’m 31. Similar with my parents, much older obviously. Scares me because it feels like life was on pause the last couple years.

  7. I don’t shake hands since Covid started at all, and I won’t. I’ve done a couple of “fist bumps” to people I know well.

F*ck that, not arsed risking it, being in quarantine is boring and I dont want to be sick. I don’t care if I come across as ignorant.

I feel like 75% of handshakes are either a middle aged man with a tough guy complex who wants to hurt your hand or else they are just plain awkward like one person not being aware you want to shake or one person putting out their fist instead of their hand.

I think shaking hands is something that’ll become a lot less of a “norm”
