Young man who sang “Kosovo is Serbia” on Croatia’s Victory Day sentenced

A 23-year-old man was found guilty and sentenced after playing a song in front of a public hall on Croatia’s “Victory and Homeland Gratitude Day.”

As stated in the decision that was published this week, on Tuesday, August 5, at around 21:30 PM, in the town of Borovo, “King Tomislav 8” square, Suhopolje Municipality in Croatia, near the local hall, he disturbed public order and peace in a public place by loudly playing the song “Kosovo is Serbia”, reports danica.hr.

“Using a portable speaker, which he connected via ‘Bluetooth’, he loudly played songs, one of which was titled ‘Kosovo is Serbia’. In doing so, he disturbed citizens because on August 5, the Republic of Croatia marks ‘Victory Day and Croatian Defenders’ Day’.”

“After a while, he stopped playing music and went home,” the decision states.

The judge fined him 300 euros and 15 euros for misdemeanor expenses.

She says he escaped unscathed, as the statutory penalty for such an offense ranges from 700 to 4,000 euros.
