Farages billionaire master talks about getting rid of basically all corporate regulation, human rights laws and mass firing civil servants. This is the sort of Trumpist talk that should worry everyone.

Fascists who have no clue how the global economy actually works.
Yeh I’m sure that’ll turn out just great 🤡🤡
Sounds suspiciously like the US at the current time. Regulators are necessary to control the excesses of the wealthy.
Stupid take.
I’m feeling too lazy to check right now but maybe someone ought to check how many complaints his businesses got over the years.
Get rid of all the ineffective regulators that are in bed with the respective businesses.
Anyone actually got the text for the article?
It’s behind a paywall
Oh, it’s Mr Ванкс
To the dumbasses who think this is a good idea. After the Wall Street Crash of 1929, the US implemented the Glass–Steagall legislation to prevent something like it ever happening again. Clinton repealed the act in 1999. The consequence? The financial crash of 2008.
Business needs legislation and governance. They are fundamentally incapable to effective self governance.
Regulators are designed to protect the general public from unscrupulous companies.
Oligarchs and other large business owners would like nothing more than to operate without external oversight.
This tells you everything about who Reform is prioritising.
Unregulated banks caused the 2008 global crash.
Is 17 years all it takes to forget the lessons of history?
We’re fucked.
Getting rid of safety labels would kill off their entire voter base.
I mean how can you con people out of money if you’re being regulated?
There’s nothing wrong with this at all. This is how the country previously functioned successfully. There are far too many bureaucratic left wing restrictions.
One really good thing about being in the EU was the very strong pro-citizen regulations that protected consumers and employees against large corps. It’s pretty obvious where Reform want to take us: wherever pays the fattest bribes.
Good thing us British have experience in fighting fascism
Worked out great for Grenfell
Of course… because that’s what the oligarchs bankrolling Reform want.
So they can fuck over the little people even more than they do already. FFS
Yes, because deregulation always helps the people, and isn’t in any way a route for his corporate donors to make more money at their expense.
Presumably to obfuscate Reform’s ties to Russia
Ah the weekend. When the Russia aligned commenters aren’t clocked in and the actual people of UK can talk.
It’s so refreshing.
As someone who works in the regulatory space from time to time, let me say that:
1. Regulations introduce more red tape / extra steps and can sometimes be a pain in the ass.
2. All regulatory changes I’ve ever worked on are there to support consumers / the general public in some form.
3. The regulatory world could be improved (more streamlined / more industry input) BUT regulators still do a great job.
4. We 100% need regulations. Trust me bro. They protect the vulnerable of society, they protect consumers.
5. Minimal regulation works great in super wealthy societies where citizens can afford their own access to healthcare and legal support.
6. The UK is not a wealthy society. You may feel that red tape = big brother state control, but it’s no different to a parent making sure their child eats a balanced diet. Without regs, our society will become sicker.
In what way does this support the working/commoner class that Farage loves to target? I thought he’s one of us!
First, they came for the regulations ….
Hot take: Reform should double down even harder on nonsense like this, the more median voters they lose the better.
Literally the definition of a “liberal”
Get rid of regulators, okay cool, if they let us scrap limited liability.
Let’s see how they feel about it when they are held personally responsible for the shit they would do without regulations.
This makes me feel ill, but people will still vote for this stupidity.
Did anyone else read this as “UK must ‘get rid of virtually’ all Reform UK agitators”?
Ah the Brexit plan coming to fruition. Corporations having no oversight at all. As if Farage doesn’t have this planned already. Can’t wait until OCP takes over the Police force.
He can fuck off. And when he gets there, he can fuck off some more.
So we’ve let the elite buy our politics and media, removing almost all left thinking, and so they’ve engineered it so that the next election has no viable opposition to their guy, and his policies are to take the shackles off and let them print even more money off our backs. And the working class who’ll get screwed are cheering it in like Turkeys for Christmas.
When will the common voter understand that economic prosperity does NOT necessarily trickle down to the end user?
Sure releasing the locks on big business and cutting back civil servants might create some impressive figures but it may never affect the individual in a positive way as the money all goes into the pockets of big businesses which might not even be UK based.
It “may” benefit all of us but it’s certainly not assured.
Swap the word ‘regulations’ for ‘protections’ and it now doesn’t sound like such a great idea.
This was the goal of Brexit.
The EU was putting too much red tape up protecting environmental standards and workers rights and this clown along with others wanted to dismantle it so their rich buddies could cut corners. Congratulations, now you have sewage dumped straight into the Thames.
That’s all it was about. They used the guise of uncontrolled immigration and frothing nationalism to rile people up and vote in their own self interest and now it’s happening again with reform uk and the idiots are falling for it l.
If anything, we need MORE regulation, not less! And we need a government who is willing to enforce the ones we already have in place instead of allowing the wealthy elites to be a law unto themselves.
We need more stringent regulations that will prevent market monopolisation, allowing corporations to buy out competition and artificially inflate prices.
We need regulations that stop billionaires from creating and exploiting loopholes to avoid paying their fair share of taxes.
We need more regulations so that we can sieze the assets of tax dodgers.
We need more regulation to prevent politicians from becoming landlords.
We need regulations to keep unscrupulous billionaires from exploiting immigrant labour to keep down national wages.
We need regulations to ban corporate lobbying so that our elected officials can remember that they work *for us* and not their sugar-daddies.
There would be more money coming in if we had MORE regulations.
Ironic considering his comments on paracetamol and thalidomide…
Race to the bottom and US poverty and inequality
We can’t tolerate the possibility of these nutters coming into power.
Deregulation sounds great until you realise that it applies to money, not people Actual people are more tightly regulated than ever, as evidenced by the firm anti-immigration stance.
Schoolboy libertarianism as embraced by Bezos and Zuckerberg. Trouble is, it would take several aircraft failures before market forces reduced the airline’s profiability and the invisible hand would improve the safety practices – not to mention the people they crash on, who have nothing to do with the private contract between the passenger and the airline.
The illegal drugs market is sometimes cited as a perfect free market which consustently increases supply while lowering price (relative to inflation). Trouble is, the profits wouldn’t be there without the prohibition industry which acts as a massive regulatory subsidy!
Copying trumps insanity will only end in total disaster for the UK. Didn’t we all dump tory because of the shit hole economy they made?
No safety, no consumer protection, a shit end to the environment (which we still haven’t managed to dig ourselves out of that tory created shit hole.), there are no advantages for the british citizen with ANY of those ideas.
Choosing to do the same again ? That would be stupidity to top maga.
Is the guy in the photo Aaron Banks? (article is paywalled) If it is, he’s been tied to Russian political influence and was one of the prime movers of Brexit. This shouldn’t set off alarm bells, it should be the 20 minute warning klaxon.
I wonder why…
what should worry everyone is the sorry state this country in – no wage growth in the last 20 years, exploding debt, terrible productivity, taxes already at a point where they impact growth, ballooning benefit numbers because something is broken. Explain to me a scenario in which more of the same keeps happening and the country suddenly recovers ? Do you think taxing the rich will magically solve all issues ?
