  1. I don’t see the point in blacklisting a woman who has condemned the invasion and hasn’t even lived in Russia since before the war started. If even Russian opposition is being black listed doesn’t that just encourage retreat to nationalist sentiment? This is a genuine question I don’t see the point of trying to make every Russian persona non grata no matter what their opinion on the war is

  2. Oh but would you look at that. The pro west Russian opposition is being targeted by the west again? Good. Get fucked. I hope they fire her. Actually I hope they convict her of being a Russian spy and throw her in jail forever. We have a saying in greece. “όποιος νύχτα περπατεί, λάσπει και σκατά πατεί” or “whoever walks in the night, steps on shit and mud”.

  3. > Netrebko – who is considered by some to be the world’s greatest soprano – is singing the title role in Tosca, and will return to the Royal Opera House later this year to perform in Turandot.

    > […]

    > Netrebko has not lived or performed in Russia since 2022 and has condemned the invasion of Ukraine. But she has been criticised in the past for her former links to Vladimir Putin, the Russian president.

    > […]

    > The opera singer’s performances at the Royal Opera House were met with protests by pro-Ukrainian supporters, some of whom held up a banner which read, “While Netrebko sings, Ukraine bleeds”.

I don’t know what more they expect someone born in Russia to do, it takes guts to be a public figure in opposition of Putin, even outside of Russia.

Maybe the wife of a certain comedian should put forth a stronger argument before it’s given this much weight

  4. Russia will need to overthrow Putin to even begin to be in good graces again. Putin harms his people each day he remains in power. He has destroyed the goodwill felt towards Russia.
