TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A bipartisan delegation of lawmakers from the Austrian Parliament arrived in Taiwan on Sunday for a weeklong visit.
The seven-person delegation represents the Austria Taiwan Friendship Group, led by the group’s Chair Werner Amon. The lawmakers will remain in Taiwan until Oct. 4, and have plans to meet high-level officials in the Cabinet and at the Legislative Yuan, according to a MOFA press release.
The lawmakers will meet with Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴), Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Chen Ming-chi (陳明祺), and other officials at the deputy minister level to discuss bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest. The group will also visit the Legislative Yuan to meet with Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜).
Other activities on the delegation’s itinerary include visits to the Institute for National Defense and Security Research and Taiwan AI Labs. The group will also tour the National Human Rights Museum in New Taipei and the National Palace Museum’s Southern Branch in Chaiyi.
MOFA welcomed the Austrian legislators upon arrival at Taoyuan International Airport. The ministry said the visit demonstrates the shared democratic values and will help to strengthen bilateral relations between Austria and Taiwan.
