Korea’s size and shape is almost a perfect match for Ireland. Except 10x the population.

  1. Didn’t realise there was a Korean island off the coast of Sligo. I’ll have to put it on my list of places to visit. 👍

  2. This kinda blows my mind because all I can think of is that there’s too many people in this country already. Traffics, queues, busy pubs and restaurants etc

Maybe I just don’t like people

  3. *”Ireland’s population was estimated to be 5.01 million in April 2021″ (Not as a whole that’s another 1.5 millions roughly)*

*”Scotland’s population is estimated to be 5.454 million (2019)”*

Oddly similar though is it not ?

  4. If we all started banging out kids like fireworks the economy would eventually be doing pretty well. Sure all they taxes they’d be paying when the come of age.

  5. If the famine and subsequent emigration had not happened, some learned people put our population at least at 30 million.

The famine and all the ills after gave us soft power abroad but made us under populated.

  6. They’ve a big housing crisis ongoing at the moment (seems the world has) but oh the public transport, would make Irish eyes water at its efficiency and volume.

  7. Both nations were also invaded and colonized by a neighboring island country famous for their citizen’s bad teeth and propensity for driving on the left side of the road.

I’ve also heard that the Irish like drinking, dancing and singing, some things that Koreans really love as well.

  8. Dublin and Hanoi, Vietnam are almost identical in km2, yet Hanoi has approx 10million people.

Every corner you walk around there another 10,000 Hanoians looking at you.

  9. If we never had a famine and had managed sustainable growth through the 19th century, we’d probably have 30-40m of a population now.

You only have to drive around rural Ireland and see all the empty houses in every single village, there’s meant to be more people here. There *were* more people here, not many western countries can say that.

We just lost so many over the century following the famine and the growth we’ve had since then has been clustered around Dublin far too much.

  10. South Korea’s landmass is approximately 100,032 square km

Ireland’s landmass is approximately 70,273 square km
