  1. On the one hand I like them on the other I’m wondering which evolutionary and territorial niche they’re now displacing a native species in. Surely some bird type is suffering from this wondrous invasion.

  2. Where are they native to? And how do they survive harsh winters?

  3. That’s the biggest flock of them I’ve seen by a long way. I can only imagine how noisy they are!

  4. Christ, that’s amazing. We had one parakeet locally last year and that was enough to ignite the local facebook group. And honestly, I was pretty excited when I saw it.

  5. I’ve always found them interesting around here. Hows the freeman arms these days? Shame that the ash tree is now a Sainsbury’s

  6. That’s way more than I have ever seen in one group

They have spread from the m25 area now and are getting established up north too.

  7. That’s amazing but I’d be worried about all the bird shit

  8. pretty but horrible for our native species and they make the worst racket

  9. Blimey, that’s a lot of em. I’m down in Westgate on the coast and we have a small, resident pandemonium of them here. They fly boisterously from favoured tree to favoured tree, usually the tallest trees they can find. I’ve noticed they only come down lower for fruit trees but quickly find something higher up, and never hang about on roofs or chimneys, always just trees.

Until recently I’d lived for a long time near and around Tufnell Park London, and there was a few resident flocks around there, again not as big as this. I love seeing them, going about their socials, bickering amongst themselves. They’re very charismatic and entertaining to watch.
