  1. I love that after all that, the bit he is annoyed about is being called “you people”.

    It’s such unparliamentary language.

  2. If people think Sinn Fein are going to be any different just look at the response from the Sinn Fein committee chairman, “strike that from the record” they are all buddies the lot of them feeding from the same trough.

  3. At least Marc McSharry is willing to say in public what everyone else was thinking and ranting about in the Journal comments section. McSharry may well be thrown out at the next election, but Watt is on €280k a year, guaranteed for life and knows he can do what he likes. McSharry, on the other hand, still has the conviction to speak the truth knowing it might cost him his job.

  4. “Tony wanted a new challenge” I wouldn’t mind a new challenge myself if that’s all it takes to get a secondment these days.

  5. The offence taken at being referred to as ‘you people’ is a pathetic attempt at deflecting from the very serious point being made.
Corruption, aka white collar shadiness, in action.

  6. I still don’t understand him being criticised for working at Trinity. Like isn’t it trinity’s decision? Isn’t he entitled to the pay? Maybe I don’t know the full story

  7. Hes not wrong though. UCD, NUI, DCU could all put up their hands and ask for a “Tony Holohan” with €2m each of taxpayers money.
It was always about the CMO, whoever it was, to be a shoein for a nice cushy number.

  8. Marc MacSharry is a clown whose only contribution to public life is the occasional stunt where he is usually shouting and raving in order to grab headlines and press attention. He is purely a self publicist. A few years ago he had one of the lowest attendances at the Oireachtas; he does little to contribute constructively at the committees he serves on. A few years ago he went on a crazy rant and totally overstated the Cervical Check issues in a way which would have frightened almost any woman who’s ever had a scan. Wish we could ignore him.

  9. What is truely scandalous is the immediate suggestion and agreement to strike very serious allegations from the record of a committee meeting who’s sole purpose was to determine the circumstances of St. Tony’s near successful asscention to the nirvana that is TCD.

  10. Is there any list for the people that tend to “strike matters from the record” (with reference)
As a bogman, I don’t keep an eye on these things.
However if you’d ask my vote (and if I knew who they were) I’d probably want them thrown out with a MASSIVE fine for corruption.

All links to relevant sites welcome.

  11. He was trying to engineer a mic drop moment but came across as a bit of twat which undermines his actual decent point of view. Poor tactics.
