Pity everything about the Mycenaean era is mostly lost. It’s almost certain that Greek literature far older than Homer (800 BC) existed but none of it survived the Bronze Age Collapse. Contrary to our perceptions of “Ancient” Classical Greece, Greek civilisation goes much further back than that and is really contemporaneous with the Egyptian Empire spanning the 16th century BC and the 11th century BC.
Planning a roadtrip next year and was wondering, bcs this reminded me of the Minoans, is Crete worth visiting, from a historical heritage pov? I don’t really care of nature/beaches
Been there, it’s great.
what happened in the circular enclosure?
I don’t know much about archaeology, so this might be a big faux pas, but is there any consideration about reconstructing the place?
