  1. I wanted to share this photo with this community as I think you would appreciate seeing Sorrento in color.

    This photo was taken by Giorgio Sommer at [roughly this location](https://goo.gl/maps/vg6YezjmN42ZdoMV6). This is my own estimation, I couldn’t find any one photo taken specifically from the same location as the above photo.

    Giorgio was one of Europe’s most important and prolific photographers of the 19th century. Active from 1857 to 1888, he produced thousands of images of archeological ruins, landscapes, art objects and portraits.

    The buildings to the very left, straddling the cliff face, is the Imperial Hotel Tramontano, with some of its buildings originating in the 1500s.
