That’s like $30m a month in revenue. Significant. And raising rates at the same time isn’t going to endear people to come back.
Ah, consumer activism at it’s finest. Hit ’em where it hurts, it almost always works.
To all the people who were doubting if people actually cancelled here you go!
I wonder how many subscribers they lose in an average week. This doesn’t mean much without those metrics.
Why were they apparently banking on their audience being conservative? Don’t conservatives hate Disney?! All I hear from them is woke complaints.
I’m so confused.
That’s about 1.4% of their 128 million reported subscribers as of June 2025 (source:AI). Some of that loss was probably attributable to other factors, but still it’s fairly clear the boycott made an impact.
This is the kind of message that people need to send companies… nothing else works…
How many of those people resubscribed already?
Even though I had a $3/month promotional rate that included Hulu, I had no qualm canceling.
I’ll probably sign up for the next season of that series that dramatized the rise of authoritarian regimes which just had a stellar second season.
What? That’s it for Andor? Oh well, at least they have nothing left to tempt me with.
I was one of em. Yar har har n a bottle o rum. Or something.
… and with their price hike, I’m not coming back! They just made unplugging A LOT easier.
I’m sure they lost subscribers but is there a better source than the Handbasket?
Yep, I canceled my subscription and never looking back
That’s why they raised the prices!
I know I was all set to keep them afterwards, but they had to go and raise rates. Genius move that.
Not enough frankly
Yet then they decide to increase their prices too right after! That’s really gunna keep people.
Let that be a lesson to ya, Disney (and any other corporations who have the urge to trample on our constitutional rights).
Not enough .. keep up the pressure
Not me because I don’t give a fuck what others do
And not going back
If I was a major shareholder of Disney, I would like to have a stern talk with the decision makers here.
And let’s NOT go back, guys! Stay strong
wish i was a a subscriber to even unsubscribe
I wonder if that’s number is Global or US-only.
(They lost me in Japan.)
Crazy only 1.7 million Americans are interested in defending freedom of speech. This is how a country becomes a dictatorship. In the end, the only ones that care are the ones being put in the camps and the ovens.
Count me as one of them. I’m not going back. The fact that they suspended him at all is egregious.
