ZAGREB, 30 September 2025 – Croatia Airlines today welcomed the seventh of 15 brand-new Airbus A220 aircraft, marking another major step in the company’s largest fleet renewal project in history.

The latest arrival, which has been registered as 9A-CAO and named Dubrovnik, is the national carrier’s first Airbus A220-100.

Delivered directly from Airbus’ facility in Mirabel, Canada, the new aircraft is a special addition to the fleet not only for Croatia Airlines but also globally.

Croatia Airlines is now the fifth airline in the world to operate the A220-100, and uniquely, its newest aircraft features 127 seats – the highest capacity configuration of this type currently in service.

The new addition joins six Airbus A220-300 aircraft, each with 149 seats, which have already been integrated into the fleet as part of the renewal strategy.

“We are proud to become the fifth airline in the world to operate the Airbus A220-100. What makes this particular aircraft even more special is that it has the largest number of seats compared to all other A220-100s in service worldwide,” said Jasmin Bajić, CEO of Croatia Airlines.

He added: “Our first A220-100, which carries the name of Dubrovnik, will strengthen our flight network, provide both passengers and crew with a first-class flying experience, and contribute to more sustainable operations. We thank our partners – Airbus and Air Lease Corporation – for their support in realising the complete renewal of our fleet, the biggest strategic project in the history of Croatia Airlines.”

The ambitious modernisation project will continue until 2027, by which time the airline expects to operate a fleet of 15 new Airbus A220 aircraft – 13 A220-300s and two A220-100s.
