RIYADH, Sept 30: Every edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games sees some countries simply participating, while others leave a lasting mark. Over the years, ten nations have established an unforgettable legacy, from the inaugural Games in 2005 to today.

These countries have not only dominated the medal tables but have become defining figures in the Games’ history, their achievements forming an integral part of the event’s identity.

With the sixth edition set to take place in Riyadh in 2025, featuring more than 3,500 athletes from 57 countries, fans are eagerly anticipating new displays of skill, determination, and ambition, as the leaderboard is set to be reshaped.

Turkey: The Benchmark

Turkey quickly rose to the top and has held its position steadily. With 239 golds out of 645 total medals, excelling in swimming and athletics, Turkey remains the nation to beat.

Iran: The Consistent Contender

Iran has firmly secured second place over the years. With 118 golds and 320 medals in total, leveraging its strength in athletics, wrestling, and karate, Iran remains a constant rival.

Azerbaijan: The Combat Powerhouse

Combat sports define Azerbaijan. With 114 golds and 300 medals, the nation has dominated judo, wrestling, and karate, making these disciplines synonymous with its success.

Uzbekistan: Masters of Diversity

From gymnastics to boxing and individual events, Uzbekistan has shown versatility and dominance. With 66 golds from 212 medals, it consistently ranks among the top performers.

Indonesia: Eastern Surprises

Indonesia has often caught its rivals off guard. With 56 golds and 222 medals, the nation has particularly excelled in athletics.

Egypt: Africa’s Champion

Egypt has carried the African flag with pride. With 46 golds and 145 medals, strong performances in swimming and combat sports have cemented its status as a continental powerhouse.

Kazakhstan: The Rising Force

Kazakhstan has made a strong impact. With 42 golds and 135 medals, its achievements in weightlifting and boxing highlight its growing influence.

Morocco: Speed and Strength

Morocco has showcased excellence in both running and combat sports. With 40 golds and 146 medals, its athletes shine in athletics, karate, and taekwondo, keeping the nation consistently among the leaders.

Saudi Arabia: Ambitions on the Horizon

Saudi Arabia has steadily climbed the ranks with 37 golds and 111 medals, excelling in weightlifting and athletics. Hosting Riyadh 2025 offers the Kingdom a chance to write a new chapter in the Games’ history.

Malaysia: Asia’s Steady Performer

Malaysia completes the top ten. With 33 golds and 97 medals, the nation has excelled in swimming, karate, and athletics, earning a permanent spot among the elite.
