DR, the Danish national broadcaster, has announced today that it will not vote Israel out of the Eurovision Song Contest as long as long they comply with the rules and regulations.
The EBU will be holding an extraordinary assembly next month in order to decide if Israel will participate at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in the wake of the growing internal calls to exclude the country due to the ongoing war in Gaza.
DR votes will not exclude Israel from the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest, the Danish national broadcaster has made its position clear regarding the upcoming voting set by the EBU. DR will not vote to exclude Israel from participating at the ESC 2026 as long as it complies with the rules and regulations.
Gustav Lützhøft (Senior editor of DR Culture, Debate and Music) has given DR Nyheder the following statement regarding this matter:
DR supports ESC as a cultural European event that has brought nations together through music since 1956. It follows that we will not vote for any EBU member to be expelled from the competition, as long as they comply with the rules and regulations. DR’s participation in the ESC remains conditional on there being a strong international community, control over security and an apolitical framework around the competition.
The Danish broadcaster has emphasised that its participation at the Eurovision Song Contest remains conditional on three main points: a strong international community, control over safety and an apolitical framework around the contest.
