And as always, the questions are very general and broad, but the interpretation of the author way too narrow for the way these questions were stated.
Are certain cultures better? The obvious interpretation to the answer to this question would be that a yes is racist. Going deeper though, what exactly is meant by culture? Are culture and ethnicity used interchangeably here? Or why would the author interpret this as racist then? Is culture therefore immune to criticism unless one is racist?
And this could be done with many of those questions. In my opinion, the author already knew what he wanted to find in this study and interpreted the data to match his ideology.
That’s not a study, that’s a twitter thread about a study. Quite a biased twitter thread at that, I mean it literally ends in what sounds like a rallying call one would hear at a political rally.

The only thing where I can see a difference arrise is in the question about social mobility, quoting the *tweet*:
>So stimmen 27 % der Aussage zu, jede Gesellschaft brauche „Gruppen, die oben sind, und andere, die unten sind“.
Switzerlands social mobility is quite a bit higher than Germanys, so I’d expect a different attitude towards that sort of question.
With that one exception we’d probably come to similar, or even stronger, results in Switzerland.
Very interesting graphic on page 33. Shows that 73% of all 14-24 year old people that think of themselves as belonging to one of 6 “rassifizierten” groups have encountered racism directly. That percentage goes down with age drastically. The study says that people’s own understanding or what racism is affects the categorization. That makes sense.
An earlier part also talks about what people understand under the word. The conclusion is that everyone has a different idea in their minds.
So all in all it’s kind of like if you ask people about this topic, everyone disagrees about what racism entails. Not sure what to make of it to be honest.
Just seems that with the percentages going up drastically for younger people, more and more things are now understood or classified to be racism. Or too few things for older people.
They doing from racism ideology. And thats Baaaaad.
Racism is very simple. If you like people just because of the color of the skin or their religion – you are racist.
If your colleague is Smurf and you hate them in general based on a bad experience but he is your friend – you are not racist.
If you never met a Smurf and you hate them = you are sheep 🐑 and a racist.
I think the problem with these studies tends to be that the question of *who* is racist has a predetermined answer and must not be looked into. Somehow, it can only be right-wing locals, everything else is taboo.
The truth is, there is plenty of racism everywhere and I’ve experienced a lot. Predominantly from Arab and Turkish immigrants, as well as progressive left-wingers who tend to think because of my appearance I need to hold certain opinions. I also met the occasional Neonazi but it seems that they don’t tend to mingle or voice their opinions much.
some cultures have slavery and cannibalism.
some cultures murder you on sight.
some cultures ignore human rights.
only an ignorant idiot living in a fantasy world could unironically ask whether some cultures are better than others.
the unserlying assumption is that humanity cannot improve behaviour over millenia. that we are essentially incapable of becoming better people than we were in the past. imagine that.
Boring..
Oh, i remember that guy Tareq Alaows, he’s a member of the Green Party (Die Grünen) and he wanted to become a politician in the last election for parliament in 2021. But he didn’t get the citizenship in time, because he migrated only a few years ago from Syria. He’s an adovacte for muslims (so he said in his own words to ZEIT online) and he sees racism everywhere.
And about the study, i can’t hear it anymore: When you look at these studies, the questions are already that way, that the results are good for the cause of the guy that finances the study.
I don’t care about all that stuff anymore from the left-wing, it’s always the same “you are bad” thing.
And about Germany, i remember about these studies how the media asks the question “Should the chancellor be a man that is able to make difficult decisions?” and then, they frame it afterwards as “The Germans want a new Führer! Nationalsocialism comes back!! Oh my god!”
not biased at all…oh no-no…zero fs given tbh.
It’s not about racism, just a test of ideology.
People could chose between the “non-racist” answer, or the factually correct answer. Being racist is seen as very undesirable in Germany, so Swiss answers would almost certainly lean more towards factually correct in this study
Yes, average intelligence between races is different (e.g Ashkenazi Jews are above average). Yes, the word race is still used and understood as a synonym for ethnicity, although no longer modern. Yes our culture is superior to our culture 500 years ago.
To be honest, I think a person who’s trying to label an entire country as racist with studies like this is more racist than the average person who answered all the questions “wrong”.

For this to directly apply to Switzerland, they would have to ask a lot of questions about our opinions on Germans.
