Tell me you’re a gobshite without saying you’re a gobshite.

  2. > In posts on social media, the group said it was occupying the building to provide accommodation for those in housing need.

    Refugees *are* in housing need.

    > we encourage housing activists across Ireland to take similar actions in opening empty buildings to house those in need

It’s not an abandoned property, it’s a building undergoing renovation so people can live there. The irony of trying to combat the housing crisis by delaying works to create housing

  3. Ukrainian refugees are not part of a ‘moneyed class.’ These West Brit Corbynites are beneath contempt.

  4. They think they deserve free housing so they can smoke weed, drink and party for free in a building that the owner is actively renovating to house women and children escaping a brutal war with nowhere to live? They can fuck off

50% of free housing is turned down because it’s not in a location Irish people want. The entitlement…

  5. From the article:

‘A spokesman for the Salvation Army said the charity had offered the building as a premises for accommodating Ukrainian refugees. Essential works were being carried out to turn it into an emergency shelter, he said.’

‘However, activists associated with the Revolutionary Workers Union, a socialist republican organisation, took over the building on Sunday, international workers’ day.’

Claims made in this thread that homeless people simply moved in as a protest against the ‘moneyed class’ and that the Ukrainian claims by the landlord are a PR face-saving exercise are cynical and false.

This is a political group scoring an own goal at the expense of women and children fleeing war. It’s not ‘Tory propaganda’ when the political group you approve of is actually doing wrong.
