KP Group, via its unit KPI Green Hydrogen & Ammonia, has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province in South Korea, in partnership with energy players GH2 Solar Limited and AHES Co, Ltd. This alliance signifies a major move to deepen international collaboration in clean energy, particularly in the fast‑emerging green hydrogen space.
The Memorandum of Understanding establishes a strong framework for collaboration focused on exchanging technology in water electrolysis and hydrogen production systems, jointly developing large-scale green hydrogen projects, and expanding the reach of green hydrogen solutions across both Indian and international markets.
His Excellency Kim Kwan-young, Governor of Jeonbuk Province, observed “This agreement merges Jeonbuk’s hydrogen expertise with India’s capital and market reach, offering Korean firms a gateway into global opportunities.”
Dr Faruk G Patel, Chairman & Managing Director of KP Group, added “This partnership is a union of strategic vision and practical execution. By marrying our Korean partners’ technological strengths with India’s market potential and KP Group’s track record in renewables, we’re accelerating the shift toward a sustainable hydrogen economy. It’s fully aligned with our ‘Vision Forward’ and India’s clean energy ambitions.”
With over 6 GW of renewable energy assets—including solar, wind, and hybrid projects—KP Group is strategically positioned to expand its footprint in green hydrogen and ammonia production, both within India and across global markets. This strong foundation in clean energy gives the company the technical capacity and infrastructure to take on large-scale hydrogen initiatives that align with global decarbonization goals.
Through its latest international collaboration, KP Group aims to strengthen its role in the global green hydrogen ecosystem. The partnership is expected to enhance the group’s competitive edge, drive employment in both India and South Korea, and reinforce its reputation as a frontrunner in sustainable energy solutions. This initiative marks a key step in advancing the clean energy transition while creating meaningful economic opportunities in the sector.
For Jeonbuk Province, the deal can stimulate growth for its hydrogen enterprises in overseas markets, support research and job growth for youth, and invigorate its regional economy through the expansion of a hydrogen ecosystem. KP Group’s associate companies—KPI Green Energy, KP Energy, and KP Green Engineering—are committed to delivering forward-looking renewable and infrastructure solutions that support the development of green hydrogen and ammonia projects.
Founded in 1994 by Dr Faruk G Patel, KP Group has evolved into a diversified conglomerate focused on renewables, infrastructure, and innovation. Over more than three decades, the group has led numerous wind and solar ventures that support India’s green energy goals. With a robust portfolio of clean energy projects, KP Group is seen as a dependable partner for businesses aiming to reduce carbon footprints. The group remains dedicated to advancing India’s energy transition and setting new standards in the renewable sector.
