How are there so many fights over where trans people can use the toilet? While I disagree with the Supreme Court decision, it is the right course of action at the moment to have toilets be birth sex, I applaud NHS Fife offering gender-neutral in addition as long as there are an appropriate and convenient provision. To me gender neutral spaces have long been an answer to the question of gender identity in segregated spaces.
What all these articles seem to neglect to highlight is despite the current ruling, at the time NHS Fife and a growing section of the community were taking the view that gender identity is the way of defining access to spaces. At the time she discriminated “allegedly “ against Beth Upton her position was contrary to standard procedure.
Anyone else smell a big fat lie with her explanation that she had a sudden heavy period and needed to change, call me naive in this matter but would you not get new scrub bottoms/underwear and go into toilet cubicle or even shower to change not just strip next to the lockers, only thing Beth couldn’t provide that a biological woman might is a sanitary product.
Funny I don’t remember society breaking down when trans people used the toilets associated with their transition for the last 20 years.
